BLOCK COURSES

5 weeks of hands-on bike repair skills-building for beginner and intermediate level mechanics. We run all-comers and WTF (Women/Trans/Femme) block courses.

Participants work on their own bike, giving it plenty of TLC and leave knowing how to keep it in tip-top condition. Replacement parts including brake pads, cables and housing is included in the course fee.

The course runs for 5 consecutive weeks from 7-9pm with an additional final weekend session at Mechanical Tempest to introduce you to the community DIY bike repair centre.

COURSE CONTENT:
  • bike anatomy
  • wheels: puncture repair,  tyre & spoke replacement, wheel truing
  • brakes: brake pad, cable & housing adjustments & replacement
  • drive train: chain maintenance & breaking, cassette replacement, indexing gears
