ONLINE RESOURCES FOR BIKE TOURING
Warmshowers
A hospitality network (similar to Couchsurfing) for people travelling by bike. Even if you're not on the road right now, hosting is a lot of fun.
r/bicycletouring
The Reddit page for bicycle touring, the ultimate place for all your touring questions.
Warning: bike nerds with intense opinions; heated debates about trivial matters - it's an internet forum after all.
Tom's Bike Trip
An awesome blog de-mystifying cycle touring with some great advice and tutorials. The antidote to thousands of other blogs bragging about MSR tents, Whisperlite stoves and titanium sporks.
Crazy Guy On A Bike
This site hosts tens of thousands of users' cycle touring journals, searchable by country, bicycle type, language and many other variables. A great resource when you're touring, especially internationally, and you want specific information about the areas you're passing through.
Warning: ugly website alert! But, as the front page asserts, the entire platform is built and maintained by one person, so...
Sheldon Brown
The absolute ultimate source of information on anything mechanical to do with bikes. Literally everything you would ever want to know is on here and it's thoroughly non-commercial. Particularly useful if you are dealing with an old bike, or you're doing some kind of parts swap/conversion.
Warning: the late Sheldon Brown was a legend but this website is also quite ugly and hard to navigate around. Stick to the 'Search' function!
